Why do I get an error message when trying to view a PDF (Acrobat)
document?
| If you have installed Acrobat Reader 5 then it may
be related to a known issue regarding that product. Please see Adobe's
knowledgebase
article for details of the problem and a suggested solution.

Why do I get an 'Error Code 11017' when trying to update ESTA
from the internet?
This is most likely to occur when using ESTA software version 8 or
earlier. To overcome this problem please visit our Downloads
page and download the file 'ESTA Viewer Software V14' to your folder
'C:\ESTA\Software\' (assuming ESTA is installed on your C: drive).
| |
I have just received my new ESTA CD, what should I do?
You must run the setup program from the CD prior to using ESTA in
order to ensure that the latest version of the ESTA software is
being used. Failure to do so may cause unpredictable results.
| |
Why, when selecting a model, do I get a message 'Please place the
"ESTA xx" CD in your drive before continuing'?
ESTA indexes all models where electronic data is available and you
must have the correct CD-ROM in your PC that includes the data for
the model you have chosen. The CD-ROM for each model is shown in
the third column of the model index.

| |
I cannot get my Spares Order to automatically link to my E-Mail,
why is this?
This may be due to running Windows 98 and Outlook Express, which
by default does not install the Windows messaging system software.
This can be installed, from your Windows CDROM, by running X:\Tools\Oldwin95\Message\US\wms.exe
(where X is your CDROM drive letter). See Microsoft's technical
article for further details.
| |
When using the Update facility it takes so long that I have to cancel.
How can I overcome this?
You are most likely trying to get ALL the updates. It is better to
update your database which will notify ESTA of all available updates
and then to update just the model you require. When subsequently viewing
a model where data amendments apply, you can then update just that
data by using the Download button which automatically appears at the
bottom of your screen.
When downloading the data for a model it is possible to skip any
large files which are usually Acrobat (pdf) versions of the full
service manual or the instruction book and may not be required.

What is the difference between the CD-ROM's designated Dx and Sx?
The D series of CD-ROM's contains the ESTA software and interactive
service data for some of our most recent products (since end of
1998). The S series of CD-ROM contains scanned images of the original
paper service manuals for a selection of our earlier products. The
S series data is not interactive and can be viewed via ESTA or directly
using Adobe Acrobat reader.

How can I find out the Password that was supplied with ESTA?
The password is different for each Hitachi sales territory and therefore
you will need to contact the supplier of your ESTA CD-ROM who will
be happy to advise you.
| |
I cannot remember a Password that I have set up. How can I
find out what it is?
Basically you can't. If you forget a password that you have set
up using the Configure / Password function, you will have to access
ESTA using the main password supplied to you with the CD-ROM and then
set up another password.
| |
Why is my Password not recognised when I try to get updates to ESTA?
This may be due to either of the following reasons:
1) because you have set up a unique User / Password of your own and
you have used this to access ESTA. When getting updates ESTA sends
the password you used to get authority from the web site. As it cannot
recognise your personal password you must use the original password
supplied with ESTA.
2) because you are using an old version of ESTA and the password no
longer applies. You must obtain the latest version of ESTA from your
supplier.
| |
Why is some data on ESTA not available in the language I want?
This can be due to one of three reasons:
1) The product was not originally sold in a territory requiring that
language.
2) The translations are not yet available, or are only available as
updates.
3) The nature of the data means that translation is considered unnecessary
or too complex (e.g. diagrams).
| |
I am having problems using ESTA. How do I get some advice?
ESTA has been designed to be very easy to use and it does have a Help
function to assist with the more complex functions. If you still
have difficulty please contact your ESTA supplier.
| |
How often will the ESTA D series CD-ROM's be re-issued?
Our current target is to produce a new issue two times per year. The
new issue will include all the updates available on the Internet up
to the time of pressing the CD-ROM.
| |
ESTA reports "This version of ESTA has expired" and won't
let me run it, what should I do?
Check your system date is correct. Otherwise, you should contact your
Hitachi representative for a more recent ESTA CD.
